A day of Master(Kasuri warping)

Aramaki is the process of winding the warp  made by the knotting technique while winding it on the beam (wooden frame) while matching the pattern.

This pattern is made with one kind of bundle pattern. Two types of Kasuri thread and ground thread are made for the fabric width, but this pattern is characterized by a high proportion of Kasuri thread. By the way, when all the warp threads are made of Kasuri thread (except for the ears at both ends), it is called Sogasuri cloth. This pattern has a ratio close to that of Sogasuri .

The pattern is arranged by threading four threads into comb-shaped metal fittings called “Araosa”. On the loom, two threads are threaded on the side of the weaving machine, but in the case of Aramaki, four threads are threaded because it is necessary to wind it in a wooden frame so that the pattern does not collapse as much as possible. I think that it was called “Aramaki” because it is wound roughly four by four.Ara means Rough in Japanese.

It is a variation of the pattern called Ichimatsu. The color is subtly dyed in indigo with a light and dark gradation.
