縮み織りとは、経糸を２つに分けて違うテンションで織り上げることで表面に凹凸をつける織りの技法。汗で生地が肌にまとわりつくのを防ぐ効果があり、主に夏生地として作られています。「サッカー織り」と呼ばれる生地も同様です。
