久留米絣の経糸。複数の括りパターンを作り、組み合わせることで柄を表現します。「引き合わせ」と呼ぶ工程では、括って染色した糸を設計した柄に沿って小割りして、手作業で柄を束ねて合わせます。糸の表面を糊とワックスでコーティングすることで毛羽立ちを抑えつつ柄のまとまりを保つ工夫をします。
