写真の水玉柄は経糸が無地で、ヨコ糸は括り技法で染め分けた絣糸。ヨコ絣、絵絣などと呼ばれる絣です。経糸が黒、緯糸が白で作られる柄の部分が交差すると黒無地の中にグレーの水玉模様が浮かび上がります。また括りの面積に強弱をつけることで水玉模様に濃淡をつける工夫をしました。
