意匠糸（いしょうし）は、ファンシーヤーンとも呼ばれ、紡績の過程で装飾を施した糸のことです。ネップヤーン、スラブヤーン、ムラ糸などさまざまな種類があります。また糸の太さは「番手」と呼び、番号が小さくなるほど太くなります。下川織物でも様々な種類の意匠糸を複数の番手で使い分けながら、使っています。
