「発酵建て」と呼ばれる伝統的な技法で染める久留米絣の藍は、重な手染めることで表現される「深み」が魅力の一つです。写真のような藍のグラデーションは「生地染め」や「製品染め」が一般的ですが、久留米絣は「荒巻技法」を用いて糸染めによるグラデーションの表現が可能です。
「糸染め」で表現された糸1本1本に表れる繊細な藍の変化を感じることができます。
