A day of Master 20200720

A pattern in which the kasuri threads are randomly crossed on the warp and weft. I named it “Arale Koushi”.

As a definition, it is interpreted as “Hateyoko Kasuri” that “the pattern is designed based on the pattern and the pattern is expressed by overlapping of the Hateyoko”. Kurume Kasuri is the only one that has continued to maintain and produce the technology for weaving “Tateyoko Kasuri” on a power loom at an industrial level, but this is a major feature of Kurume Kasuri.

In the sense of “a woven fabric made by crossing warp and weft kasuri threads”, this pattern may be called “double ikat kasuri” in a broad sense. However, it does not apply to the definition of Tate Yoko Kasuri in the sense that it creates a pattern such as a floral pattern or a geometrical pattern by overlapping the vertical pattern according to the designed pattern.

However, the fascination that Kurume Kasuri is attractive because it is a derivative of Tate Yoko Kasuri is a discovery of the “depth of the Kasuri world” for both creators and consumers. I think so.
