久留米絣は、染色、糊付けなどの工程で何回も濡らしたり干したりを繰り返します。括り工程という独自の技術に起因することも影響します。柄のまとまりをつくるため、通常の織物に比べて糊の加減に特徴があります。綿糸の糸の伸縮や毛羽立ちの具合は、絣の柄合わせと相性がよいと職人として考えています。
