久留米絣の動力織機は、緯糸の折り返し部分、いわゆる「耳」で柄合わせしながら織ります。連続動作の中で絣特有のかすれが生じますが、日々のメンテナンスの中で、「あ、これ！」という自分の感覚と織機の可動域の一致点があり、人間の体と一緒で日々微妙に変わるので常に追い求めています。
