久留米絣は、柄物のイメージが強いですが無地や縞も作ります。括りという技法の有り無しはあっても、それ以外の製法は同じなので、生地の質感や風合いは同じクオリティーが保てることが魅力です。複数の糸番手の組み合わせや織りの密度の変化などで表面の凹凸の表現や個性的な風合いを見出したりと試行錯誤出来る面白さがあります。
