Craftsmen call the plate-shaped woodwind “Tongu”. There is a line in the center of the black part of Tongu.
The weft of the Kasuri has a white mark to align it with the fold on the right edge of the fabric. When winding the weft around Tongu, if you wind it with the right end aligned, the pattern is designed to match.
The right edge of the woven fabric turns white when folded back. It can also be used as a guide to determine whether or not it is genuine Kurume Kasuri.
