Shimogawa Orimono official
Manae Araki is a student at the University of the Arts London. She spent six weeks as an intern at Shimogawa Orimono to study traditional Japanese crafts, especially Kasuri. She talked about the craftsmanship she learned and her dreams for her future.
Kyozo Shimogawa is a craftsman of Kurume Kasuri textile. He is Ika, who features traditional techniques that have been made in Japan for 220 years. Kyozo Shimogawa talks about Japanese tradition and culture in his own words. He wants to share with many people the techniques and ideas that Japanese craftsmen have carefully inherited.

荒木 愛恵 さんManae Araki
小学6年生から単身ロンドン留学して、10年。現在は、ロンドン芸術大学に在籍する荒木さんは、コロナ禍による一時帰国の期間を利用して日本の伝統文化、伝統工芸を学ぶために7月から6週間、下川織物にてインターン生として過ごされました。単に技術を勉強するだけではなく、歴史の上に積み重ねられてきたマインドを深く学ぶために寝食を共にしながら過ごした中で何を見つけたのか。改めて彼女の想いをインタビューしました。
