緯糸を巻く木管の根元には穴が空いてます。
織りすすめていくと当然、緯糸は無くなりますが、緯糸が完全になくなる直前に木管の根元の穴を通じて光電管の光が向こう側まで抜けます。すると受信器が反応して織機ぎ自動的に停止します。基盤が入ったボックスに点灯したランプが織機が停止したことを知らせてくれます。
