久留米絣は、専用の図案用紙に柄を描き、そのリピートで織ることで反物になります。タテ方向、ヨコ方向ともに一定の間隔で柄が繰り返されるわけですが、間隔を追求していくとちょうど心地よい感覚というものに辿り着きます。
間隔が感覚と重なる瞬間を探る冒険が、図柄を描くことだと解釈しています。
