A day of Master(Dyeing technique)

The biggest feature of Kurume Kasuri is the expression of the pattern by the Kukuri technique, but this pattern was made without using the Kukuri technique.

It is an expression by a dyeing technique called “Itajime”. However, by utilizing “Aramaki technology”, it has the characteristics of Kurume Kasuri. It is dyed black and white by dyeing by board tightening. The Aramaki process can faithfully reproduce the dyed colors on the fabric.

Kurume Kasuri craftsmen call the border of the pattern “Kiwa”. Itajime staining has ambiguous borders. The technique of Kurume Kasuri craftsman is to reproduce the ambiguous part with textiles.
