A day of Master(Kasuri loom)

The characteristic of the Kasuri loom is the weft that is wound while matching the pattern with a wooden tube called a plate-shaped “tongs”. We also specially make a shuttle to store woodwinds that are larger than the woodwinds of ordinary narrow looms. The exercise equipment is customized, including the “race” that is the basis for the reciprocating motion of the shuttle.

The plate-shaped woodwind “Tongs” are wound in units of 20. Craftsmen wind it manually using a special “Nuki Maki device”. Nuki Maki work is essential because the amount of thread required for the day must be wound the day before.

Weaving craftsmen may weave while doing Nuki Maki work, but Shimogawa Orimono has improved production efficiency and created a system in which different craftsmen are in charge of “Nuki Maki work” and “weaving”. I am making an exquisite combination.
